The City of Abbeville is pleased to announce that beginning in 2019, it will be hosting a "City Opera House Events Season" to include music, comedy, movies, and more! This will be in addition to the plays you have come to love attending at the Historic Opera House.
Tickets for these events can be purchased online (through Eventbrite) or in person at the Opera House. Please contact the City Special Event Coordinator Emily Bledsoe for more information.

Comedian Pam Stone: Benefit for Big Oaks Rescue Farm

After a sold-out performance last year in Greenwood, Pam is back to raise money for Big Oaks Rescue Farm. Born in Marietta, Georgia, Pam Stone graduated from Joseph Wheeler High School and attended Kennesaw College, before leaving in her third year to pursue stand-up comedy in Los Angeles, California. With special guest Andy Forrester.
Free Flow Band

According to the Mountain Xpress, the Free Flow Band members are the “The Guardians of Funk, and an Irresistible Dance Party that draws fans from across generations and social groups and if you ask their fans, they will tell you Free Flow is a dance band that doesn’t try to sound like anyone but Free Flow.” Free Flow’s line up of musicians reads like a who’s who of the best Funk Bands ever to grace North Carolina: Kazual Collins, Lil’ Rog, Black Note, and LT. “Our mission is to get people on the dance floor, the members of the Free Flow Band proclaimed during a recent interview, almost in unison. And if you’ve seen them perform, you know that they meet that mission, night after night.”
Abbeville Opera House Comedy Presents: Shaun Jones

For more than 19 years, the comedy world’s senses have been tantalized by both audio and visual artistry. The young man known as Shaun Jones is truly making his mark everywhere he goes, with his quick wit and fashionable flair. Born and raised in Newark, New Jersey and having lived in Los Angeles for a short time, Shaun now calls Atlanta, GA his home. He has traveled worldwide entertaining crowds, using many of his personal life experiences to get a good laugh. Like an accomplished chef, Shaun’s comedy combines a cup of truth, a tablespoon of originality, and a double twist of humor. Shaun has appeared on several national television shows, such as B.E.T’s “Comic View”, B.E.T’s “One Mic Stand”, BounceTV’s “Off The Chain” & Showtime’s “1 Amendment”.
The Little Roy and Lizzy Show

Lizzy began her music accomplishment at an early age and her interests are very eclectic ranging from Dolly Parton, Loretta Lynn to the Earl Scruggs Revue to Fleetwood Mac. While starting out on the piano, Lizzy soon took up the fiddle, guitar, autoharp, bass, banjo, and mandolin, and has become an accomplished musician, alternating between these instruments as part of her entertainment repertoire.
Little Roy makes sure that no one in the audience gets bored at any time. He has won awards as Entertainer as well as for his banjo playing. Little Roy learned to play banjo when he was only six years old, and won a local talent contest for his playing when he was eight. Little Roy's favorite banjo players are Don Reno and Earl Scruggs. USA Today called Little Roy 'a banjo master, truly a picker's picker'. Little Roy can also be found playing the guitar and autoharp.
Abbeville Opera House Comedy Presents: Kier

Great stand-up and spot-on musical impressions make this show rock. Comedy clubs, corporate events, cruise ships, colleges, Kier has literally been all over the world, including entertaining the Troops in Europe, Asia, and the Persian Gulf. He has worked with such greats as Reba McEntire, Oprah Winfrey, Ronnie Milsap, Kevin Bacon, and many others and had multiple appearances on the Bob & Tom Show and John Boy and Billy. A highlight of Kier’s show is his History of Rock Guitar Riffs. Kier’s impressions include Sting, U2, Dave Matthews, Springsteen, Roy Orbison, Bob Dylan, Sinatra, Elvis, Waylon & Willie, Tom Petty, Prince, Barry White, Nirvana, Pearl Jam, Neil Young, and many others.

Nevermind: Nirvana Tribute Band

The #1 Nirvana Tribute Band, Nevermind, and will be unplugged and playing all of your Nirvana favorites inside the Opera House. Nevermind is dedicated 100% to bringing you the full Nirvana experience! You want hits? They have them! You want deep cuts? They have those too! You want the gear and sound of the actual band? They've done the research and tracked down the equipment! Nevermind plays all over the country and will be bringing grunge to Abbeville.
Abby in Abbeville: Abby the Spoon Lady and Chris Rodrigues

Abby first started street performing and busking as a means to make money traveling across the United States, primarily hopping freight trains. She taught herself to play the spoons and traveled all over the United States by hitchhiking and railroad. She states that landing in Asheville, North Carolina, was completely an accident and that she took the wrong train. Today she hosts storytelling events where she discusses the lifestyle of the American hobo. She spent a good amount of her time traveling recording the stories, interviews and songs of other American travelers.

While listening to an Eddie Murphy comedy album in his friend’s living room, Drew envisioned himself becoming a stand-up comedian "one day". Years later, after being fired from his job as a car salesman in Atlanta and consistent nudging from a friend, Drew decided to "get off the couch" and finally give his childhood dream a shot. In 2006, Drew was voted Best Comedian in Atlanta by Creative Loafing and has made appearances on NBC's Last Comic Standing and The Late Late Show with Craig Ferguson. You can currently catch him on Gotham Comedy Live, Laughs on Fox and Comedy All Stars on Pure Flix.
Christmas with the Ricardos: I Love Lucy Holiday Special

Celebrate the holidays with Lucy and Ricky! This hilarious show includes everything from musical numbers to your favorite Christmas songs from the 40’s and 50’s, as well comedy skits, and audience participation. Some highlights of the show are when Lucy performs her rendition of “The Nutcracker” and later disguises herself as Santa Claus, and when Lucy and Ricky sing and dance to “Baby it’s Cold Outside.” The audience, too, will participate in performing “The Twelve Days of Christmas,” led by a very animated Lucy! Voted #1 I Love Lucy Tribute in America.

This Florida girl has performed in some of the best comedy clubs across the country becoming one of the most requested by clubs and audiences alike. This has led to being invited to both the Boston Comedy Festival twice, once in 2006 and again in 2010. The 2007 Las Vegas Comedy Festival and Laughing Skull Comedy Festival in 2011. In 2009, she made her film debut in the independent film “Pose Down”. She has had several appearances on The Bob & Tom Show. In 2012 appeared on "Mom's Night Out" on NickMom. She has also appeared on Comedy Time TV and Quicklaffs filmed at the world famous Pasadena Ice House in 2012.

Al Ernst has been named Carnival Cruise Lines “Entertainer of the Year,” which is saying something when Carnival fills more than 5,000 entertainment gigs a year. Al has performed hundreds of corporate gigs over the years, which he credits to his ability to combine rudimentary motivational speaking with non-confrontational humor. He has been a Professional Wrestling announcer and hosted his own show, “A View from the Cheap Seats.” His TV credits include all major networks and cable from CNN, TNN, ESPN, A&E, Comedy Central and HBO. Al was also featured prominently in a Wall Street Journal article with about clean comedy. With over 15 years on his way to “Destination: E-man Nation”, the audience is in store for one of the most memorable times of their lives. Al has a library filled with video and audio titles and has participated in over 30 television shows most recently MTV’s “TRL” and the SPEED network’s, “Victory Lane”.
