The City of Abbeville is governed by an eight member council and one Mayor.

Council Member Gus Wilson - District 1

Council Member Wilson was elected to his first term as the City Council representative fromDistrict 1 in 1992. He was re-elected in 2006 to serve his fifth term on City Council. His current term will expire in 2010. Council Member Wilson has also previously served as the Mayor Pro Tem.

Council Member Faye Thomas - District 2

Council Member Faye Thomas was first elected to represent District 2 in 2004.She was re-elected to her second term in 2008. Her current term will expire in 2012.

Council Member Franklin Cape - District 3

Council MemberCape was elected to City Council in 2010 to represent District 3. Council MemberCape's current term expires in 2014.

Council Member Bertha Crawford -
District 4

Council Member Crawford was first elected to City Council in 2002 to represent District 4. She was re-elected in 2006 to a second term. Council Member Crawford's current term on Council will expire in 2010. Council Member Crawford has also previously served as the Mayor Pro Tem.

Council Member Delano Freeman -
District 5

Council Member Freeman was elected in 2000 to his first term on City Council as the representative from District 5. He was re-elected to athird term in 2008. Council Member Freeman's current term will expire in 2012.

Council Member Doyle Kidd - District 6

Council MemberKidd was elected to City Council in2010 to represent District 6. Council Member Kidd's current term will expire in 2014.

Council Member Joe Seawright - District 7

Council Member Seawright was first elected to serve on City Councilin 1990, and represented District 7 until 1996. In 2000 he was elected to again serve on City Council, and was re-elected in 2008. His current term will expire in 2012.

Council Member Spencer Sorrow - District 8

Council Member Sorrow was first elected to City Council in 1986 to represent District 8. He was re-elected in 2008 to serve hiseigth term on City Council. His current term expires in 2012. Council Member Sorrow currently serves as the Mayor Pro Tem.
