COVID-19 Operations Impact

The following changes to City Operations will be occurring as a result of the COVID-19 Outbreak.  The City encourages all residents to continue social distancing, sanitizing frequently touched surfaces, frequent hand washing, and other measures to prevent the spread of this virus in our community. 

Administration

City Hall will be closed to the Public until March 28th.  Those needing to conduct business with the City are encouraged to do so by phone or email.  Hospitality Taxes and other Fees may be mailed in during this time.  

Community Development

All City Events through May 15th have been cancelled with the exception of the Spring Festival.  A decision will be made on the Sprig Festival in the coming weeks.

Fire

Offices closed to the public.  Those needing to conduct business with the City are encouraged to do so by phone or email.  Please dial 911 for emergencies.

Municipal Court

Trials suspended, notices for reschedules and future trials to be sent out. Bond hearings held daily.

Parks and Recreation

Offices and facilities closed to the public.  Those needing to conduct business with the City are encouraged to do so by phone or email.  All events through May 15th have been cancelled or rescheduled.

Police

Offices closed to the public.  Those needing to conduct business with the City are encouraged to do so by phone or email.  Please dial 911 for emergencies.

Public Utilities

Until March 28th, the Abbeville Utilities Office will only accept payments via mail, telephone, online, and dropbox. As part of the City’s Effort to limit community spread that could impact city operations, the drive thru window will also be closed until March 28th.

Additionally, in an effort to help limit the hardship of the Coronavirus on our community, the City will temporarily suspend disconnects for the next 45 days. However, late fees will still accrue for non payment.

Public Works

Boom trucks will run on Monday and Fridays. (Changed from three days to two and changed to Monday and Friday to reduce employee overlap)

Residential Garbage & Recycling will run on a normal schedule.

Commercial Garbage will run on a normal schedule.

Future changes may need to be made depending on the spread of the virus and these stated changes will last until further notice.
